LO4: Design of pages

 This is the complete design of my film review app called First cut, I have used a Apple device to show it is up to date.


This is the homepage where users can search for new released movies, chat in groups with friends, Add friends and also access settings. As you can see the logo is at the front which is clear and your own profile is in the right hand side.


This is the settings page where users can access features as accounts to see saved history. Chats to see saved messages.Notifications to control what they can see on their phone and not. Data usage is important so users can control the amount of date being used. The last one is being able to tell a friend which means they can share the app.



This is the feed page where you can upload movie related posts and see which of your friends have been posting ratings and reviews on particular movies.


This is the group chat area where up to 20 people can talk in a group about particular movies that they will be going to watch and tell their friends about it.


Accessibility and web standards:
My website must obey rules and regulations, in order to do this I will do everything that stays within the law. My social media app is free to download off the app store market, it will also be able to run on both wifi and 3G data for users to have a fast experience. My application will be programmed to be able to adapt to any resolution on smartphones and in terms of text sizes for the people with disabilities impairments they will already have the specific large fonts installed on their phone, my app is programmed to adapt to this.





LO3: Planning the app

Purpose:
The idea of my social app is allowing users to be able to review and talk about newly released films and also to socialise. Since usually you get to see professionals rank the movies but we rarely see the general public reviewing it so this app is aimed to give a normal persons opinion on the particular movie. Users are able to come into groups for up to 20 people to discuss with themselves and also write their own review whilst rating it out of five.

Content:
The main reason I have created this app is for users to view a rating of the film easily as with the amount of newly released films these days it is hard to choose which one you should watch. The app firstly has a homepage where users can search for newly released movie reviews, chat in groups with people, add friends and adjust their own profile settings. All of these features make the app easy to use and make the user feel comfortable as they are in control of everything they do which in this era all social apps need to have.

Target user and membership:
Users are able to create a free account and also download this free off the app store which is vital to gain popularity. Users are able to create their account with their email addresses or link their Gmail account to this which is really simple and fast to get going. Since it is easy to sign up users wont get bored as some apps take forever to create but this easy and hassle free sign up is very appealing. I have made my application a social media app because their are many professional film review websites out there such as IMDB but we rarely see the general public getting to review and discuss a new released film together. The target audience for this application will be 13 - 24 years olds of a ABC12 category this is because many of us watch films so it can access a large audience since films are a huge talking point. Also there is a theory of the digital natives since the age ratings of this app have all grown up in the digital native era they will be able to use this app easily.

Possible and revenue streams:
I have decided for my application within a week of its launch there will be a donation button where users can donate as much or as little as they like, also another possible revenue stream could be funding from the producers of the films themselves since we are promoting their film through our app. A future edition could be to have paid advertisements on our app in specific areas that sometimes appear.

Privacy and security:
My app will have a secured security lock so no user accounts are able to be hacked, the tight security will include users having to create their own security answers and their own accounts being linked to the phone, therefore if their is any security breaches the rightful owner will get a text message and they will be able to change their account. If a user has forgotten their password then they can simply click forgotten password and a email will be sent or a text to reset it which ever one is more convenient for the users. In terms of Privacy users have the choice of hiding some of their information such as birthdays or even profile pictures for their own safety.

Software:
To create my application I will use a site called Outsystems who pride themselves in a secure and reliable app coding. They are a premium and rapid app developing platform.The reason I have chosen this app creators is because it is simple and very professional it will allow my app to run smoothly and any updates needed to be added on in a later date. The graphics will also look amazing for a perfect user experience.

Information flows and how pages link:
There are only 4 pages on the app which are easy to click onto and move forward to, their is a homepage where the app begins, a chat page where users can talk among each other, your own feed page where you can see any of your friends who have posted anything about a particular film and finally the last page is a settings page where you can adjust your own experience of the app. The app must be able to respond fast and move smoothly for users to have a great experience. On the top left their will be a profile button on this whenever the users click that, it will take you to your own profile which you can adjust this will always be their on all four pages next to the logo.

User/Member needs:
Users must be able to access their account easily so whenever they leave their account the app will remember the user details and all of your past history on the application. Another key feature is the easy to upload pictures where users can upload their experiences, they will always be saved their for friends and yourself to see. I have made sure that the colour scheme has be used all the way through so that it looks professional and is memorable application, the logo stands out too and is eye catching.

Legal and Ethical issues:
Any legal and ethical issues will mostly be copyrighted images, I will make sure users read the terms and conditions which state that no copyrighted images should be used and they must agree to it before they sign up to an account. For the data protection I will ensure that I am using SSL security which is secured and any data that is in my app will be encrypted just like all the social media applications are to be safe.

Production Plan:

For my production plan I used a realistic time scale based on real life web developing professional suggestions.










After researching how much budget I will need for my development of app I have found out I need to have a budget of 20k to develop this app to the way I want it and to be able to compete with other apps. Realistically it will take up to 10 months with full planning I think this App will be able to be launched in December 2016.

LO2 Task 4 (Idea 1) - Be able to generate ideas for a new social media website

The purpose of my social media app will be a social film review site where users can talk about the film and weather they enjoyed it or not, they can then rate the film out of five stars and recommend it to others if they enjoyed it or not. The purpose of this app would be for the film to gain popularity as usually the film on websites is rated by professionals and it is not often the viewers of the film get their chance to have a say on the particular movie.

The format will be a basic application for the smartphone both on Apple store and Android, but through popularity it will have the chance to become a website format, but it will be a lot easier thorugh smart phones. The style will be up to date and easy to access like the modern apps are in recent times. The colour of my application will be purple and yellow very different to other typical apps like Facebook and Twitter, I want my app to have a special appeal and stand out.

The main Target audience for my application will be 13+ depending on the movie but I will aim to start off with childlike movies to gain popularity. The service will be free to begin with however user can donate if they enjoy the application. Film producers have the chance to promote their film on this social app.

Pages layout:

  • I have used a purple colour scheme/house style this is to make my social app stand out compared to the rest which is different since Snapchat is Yellow and Facebook is blue, this is why purple is different.
  • The top left Profile button always navigates to the homepage whenever you click it which is easy to navigate.
  • Home page includes Logo, Movie review area, Chat area, Add friends area and The settings area which all lead to another page.
  • There is advertising space on both the top and bottom this can help me gain more profit.

LO1 Task 3 - How social media products are used for advertising and promotion

Instagram













Advertising on Instagram has recently started to get popular as you can see here there is donate buttons for the charity and it is a sponsored advertisement. If you choose to click on the post it will take you to the homepage of the site, if you like it your followers are able to see in there feed and also can choose to like this. This is mainly displayed in the explore page.

We can see here there is a big green sign saying donate now this is allowing people to Donate via A click of a button, they have made it big and bold so you almost can not miss it. Since this advert is sponsored it means that the creator of the page has paid Instagram to upload this so all users can see.

You can comment on this post and tag your friends in to see this. However u can also write bad reviews and Good reviews beneath this so it does not always look good if people write negative comments beneath this.


Facebook


Here are some sponsored posts on Facebook, this means that the company has paid Facebook to advertise this on their website. These adds usually appear when you are scrolling down Facebook. The adds usually are similar to what you have been surfing online for example the above add says create your own store, if you have been searching for jobs or checking out stores to buy this would come up. The add on the right is about accessories this means if you have been searching for gadgets and tools for your phone then this add will appear in your feed. As you can see also on the right of the first picture there are recommended pages which means you should like them, these usually appear if you friends like the posts or you if you have liked similar pages.

You can share all of these to your friends or if you like these all your friends are able to see in their recent feed. However you can only share these if it is not protected by the creator of the post.

You can comment, like and share the advert to show your appreciation of the post. However bad comments can make your post not look as eye catchy, good comments make it stand out and more people get to see it.


Snapchat

Advertising on Snapchat is usually for the professional and well known businesses such as Sky news, Daily mail and Yahoo news.  These Companies below all pay snapchat to promote their own businesses. However promotion on snapchat is not as popular as it is on Facebook and Instagram as it is easier to share it to more people.

















You can share these posts to your friends on snapchat through messages for them to see the posts, but again it is not as popular since these advertisings are relatively new they were first introduced in 2015.

You can comment on the post to your friends and share it with them. Usually famous celebrities use this application as it allows their fans to see them in daily life and what they get up to when they are not doing their profession. This is another way of promotion for them.

LO1 Task 1 Analysing media products (Facebook)

Facebook – 

Purpose:
This is a social online networking service, where users can message people and friends from all around the world express their views and opinions and even upload pictures for all of them to see. A man named Mark Zuckerberg invented this social app. Since august 2015 there have been 1.8 billion monthly active users.

Content: 
Facebook allows its users to upload there own personal content to the internet weather thats images or personal statuses for friends and family to see. However in recent times videos have started to get popular on this social media site too. Facebook also allows famous celebtrities to promote themselfs as they rise up.



Target Audience:
Facebook in recent times has been used by almost everyone across the world even people ranging from ages to 13 - 90. There is a minimum requirement to sign up for facebook and that is 13 years old. From this age rating we can see that 18 - 25 use facebook the most at 86% and over 45 year olds use it the least at 15%.

Facebook advertisies on its site this is how it gains its profit as there is always adverts in corners and if you click on games they automatically invite friends. Also there are many investors in facebook which still allo


Legal/ethical issues:
With many social media sites there are many legal and ehical issues as you would expect. Many fake profiles are created, the most common is of fake celebrities as people pretend to be them, many issues can arrise from cyber bulying too and online trolls.

LO1 Task 1 Analysing media products (Instagram)

Instagram – 

Purpose: Instagram is an online mobile photo sharing and video sharing network service which allows users to also text. It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in 2010. In 2010 the app had 100 million active users and 2 years later in 2014 they had 300 million users it rapidly gained popularity.

Content: 
Instagram allows its users to upload there own faviroute images and videos for there followers to see. Users are able to like and comment on the image or video which has been uploaded. You can even Direct message people on the app. Instagram also is another platform which allows celebrities to promote themselfs on.





Target Audience:
Instagram is aimed at teenagers from 13 years old this again is the minimum requirement. As you can see from this image millions of people use instagram daily. The most popilar usage is from people ages 18-24 and more females use this paticular application. The least usage is from ages 35-44.

Instagrams main source is from advertising which can appear in the corner of your phone screens it also has many investors so therefore it gains money from there to keep running.

LO1 Task 1 Analysing media products (Snapchat)


Snapchat – 

Purpose: This is social app for both android and iPhone where users can send videos and pictures of what is going on in their daily life to all their contacts that have Snapchat. Two men named Bobby murphy, Evan Spiegel in September 2011 the initially started on the project at the university in Sanford. In May 2014 it was recorded that users were sending 700 million photos and videos per day.

Content: 
Snapchat allows users to send 10 second snaps and videos to there family or friends. You can even text friends from there and writing mini captions to show what your doing. Being allowed to put it on your story shows all your friends what youve been up too recently.

























Target Audience:
The Target audience is genrally for snapchat 16+ but there are many underage users who use this application too. As we can see more females use this application and the age range is a staggering 71 percent for 25 years and older.

Snapchat is funded through investors and big companies, they are funded by some big names such as Yahoo and Benchmark this is because it is one of the top rising apps so it has gain many intrests.

Legal/ethical issues:
There are many legal and ethical issues starting from underage nudes being sent from teenagers who are not 18 yet, also sexting and hooking up is really common and there can be really un trusty worthy people who may screenshot the pictures and expose there ex partner it is almost a form of grooming, so you must be careful.
